Robinson Golf Art - Golfing Online Gallery, established in 2007. The primary purpose of the site was to promote the work of Golf Artist, Mark Robinson. For the first five years of the European Tour flag ship event, Race to Dubai, DP World Tour Championship at the Jumeriah Golf Estates in Dubai, Mark was Artist in Residence. His primary role was to collect reference throughout tournament week in order to paint watercolors and acrylics of the players and crowds. The resulting paintings would then be sold or presented to the Main Sponsors at the following year’s event. The final two days of each tournament were spent painting a view of the 18th green surrounded by spectators and capturing the victor’s final pose. These acrylic sketches were then referenced to create studio versions from each year. Once completed, they were presented to the European Tour’s International Director, based in Dubai. Mark also painted at the 2010 and 2011 Emirates Invitational's. In 2011 he held a solo exhibition at the request of the Speaker of the Northern Ireland Assembly, Mr William Haig. The show was a tribute to the Northern Irish professional golfers, Rory McIlroy, Graeme McDowell and Darren Clarke and their recent success in the U.S. and British Opens. The Exhibition was held in the Great Hall, Stormont. Many famous guests & politicians attended the preview evening including Dame Mary Peters and George Best's sister, Barbara. TV coverage included an interview with Mark for the BBC News. Following the Exhibition mark's work was sold by the local agent but unfortunately little of the proceeds ever made it to the Artist. In 2013 & 14 Mark painted at the European Challenge tour events in 2013 and 14. The 2014 National Bank Of Oman Golf Classic, held at the Greg Norman designed 'Al Mouj' GC and now the 'Road to Oman' Challenge Tour Final, venue. This was followed by the final in Dubai at Al Badia G C. The artist has had several exhibitions at the D P World Tour Championships held in conjunction with the 2009, 2010,11 &12 Tournaments. A Village Exhibition sponsored by the European Tour was part of the 2013 DPWTC. In December, 2013 Mark Exhibited at the 360 Sport, ‘Middle East Golf Awards’ and in 2014 with ‘Emirates Bank NBD’ at the ‘Dubai Desert Classic’. 2014 shows also included the HSBC Golf Business Forum in Abu Dhabi, Yas Links and various Charity Golfing Days including the Els For Autism at the Els Club, Dubai. For much of 2014 Mark’s work was on show in the Emirates and The Creek Golf Clubs, by invitation of Dubai Golf. His recent work with another 'Dubai Golf' managed course, Al Mouj Golf Club, The Wave, Oman, has resulted in a series of paintings and prints which were available in their Pro Shop. Mark would like to thank his good friend, Paul Fackerell, director of UAE Golf Online for all his help over the 2012 - 2014 period. Mark Robinson continues to paint commissions for the sport's top players and most ardent fans and will be Exhibiting and painting Live at the 2016, Northern Irish Open at Galgorm Castle in July.
" I was bitten by the golfing bug in my early twenties but it took me twentyfive years to realise that I should be painting golf portraits." I was actually creating 3D golf course maps way before the recent trend by way of teaching myself the subject. When I eventually took the 'portraits plunge', My first painting in anger was of Henrik Stenson. The positive feedback pushed me to paint more ". "Shortly after that I was asked to paint at the first Race to Dubai Final, ala Jack Russel". " It's been a mixture of public and original commissions for collectors since then with print sales also."
