As i'm in the Airport mood, I'll share with you some thoughts from a few people over the last six months. The comments were asking me If I painted any 'Modern Art'. I have to point out that 'Modern art' has been dead since 1970 and in my opinion since the mid 60s. I think they mean , have I abstracted or moved away from figurative work? Yes, is the answer. Just as experiments and to make me remember why it was that I'd spend so much time in Life classes and not stood in front of a canvas painting targets. I enjoy painting in my own way, with my own influences and the work just comes out as golfers at the moment, I'm sure I'll change soon. The Sports World is a selfish one even though they bang on about charity... I digress, don't start me. Oh just a little then...
In my opinion, Charity is when it hurts you to give, when you can't afford to give but do, not tax evasion and self promotion.
Here ends the sermon.
Just so you can see why I am a figurative painter. See below, 3 Robbo examples. My wife likes them!
As I'm not at the canvas I've decided to use a hi tech sketching tablet to record this month's events. It will get me in the mood for starting up the newsletters again and make me sketch (all be it with a brick) If all else fails, I'll just use photos.... The mag will be out Oct 1st.
Well, Summer is starting to melt away. There isn't an Autumn in Dubai really. The date palms shed their fruit and the sun becomes ever more watery. By the time we reach the DPWTC the BBQs are smokin! I hope you've all had a great Summer and we all wish a better life in the direction of families running from fear. Great to see the giving going on in Europe. These events make Golf Championships seem very unimportant but we all need to escape sometimes. Been caught up with family matters and paintings are on hold for a while. Winter on the way Better start thinking about those Seasonal Gifts People!
