Set! Got passes, parking pass, club sandwich.......? Everything,s stomach related these days. Still waiting on my banner print from Sharjah. So. It's on with the real job. The exhibition will sit till Thursday .thanks to the caddie who piped up when I introduced myself to a European tour young lady, " yea and he wants to paint you nude".
Starting to get there. Rode to the course with the van driver. The guy has been in Dubai for 40 years! I came here as set designer with a theatre company in 1985 and there was nothing here then. God knows how little there was 40 years ago. The place was beautiful in those days. The beaches stretched for miles. Not a soul to be seen and turquoise almost clear gulf waters. It was interesting talking to him. He is from Pakistan and a really nice man. We approached the entrance to JGE and I could see he and his nephew were shuffling a bit. I waved to the security guy and we were in turn waved through. They both looked at each other. Apparently, If I hadn't been there they would have had to sit waiting for permission for at least an hour. Unfair. Young Tour guy decided to have a go at us when we arrived, for driving up to the booth, which I pointed out we and everyone else did yesterday. I don't know. Give em a walkie Talkie....

Setup went well today though. I will have to arrange things tomorrow and sort out lighting but it's taking shape.
Looks great! Thanks to the European Tour. Always wanted a tent in the tented! Great base for the week and a fantastic way to show my work. Suzanne will be taking care of business throughout the Tournament days and I'll be around in my breaks from 'On the Golf Course Painting ' to chat to anyone interested in my art, buying, or setting up a commission. Well. All good. What a fine figures of men these two athletes make. OK the one on the left is an athlete, geezer on the right has seen better days but he's back for another year! Paint brush and European Tour pass in his hand. Thanks to Nick and the crew.
Been out to the art shop today and ordered 10 canvases for delivery tomorrow. HOW MUCH !!!!!??? ARE YOU NUTS?
I'm supposed to be at the Government medical Centre tomorrow for my resident visa health check but it will have to wait. Got a commission to complete in the next few days and a list as long as your arm of things to do. The tryptich is still not complete . It is the silly things like, material for the booth, printed front sign, cash register etc. I was going to have a coffee table and two chairs at the back of the booth but I think it may be to crammed in. Suz is going to man the Exhibition. Guest book!. while I remember. Cards are done , stickers, prints, cards, postcards. Got to set up the online shop fro credit card payments and print out commission forms and deposit forms. Certificates! This blog thing is good, it shakes up the memory and produces things overlooked. Invites! Press release!
Still getting over six days painting at the Challenge Tour Final. It is quite exhausting in the heat. Sand gets everywhere and I mean everywhere! Was watching the TV highlights earlier tonight and spotted myself, in an earth shattering publicity stunt. My position covered about 5 pixels on the screen real estate, just behind Mr Kapur's head, on his final shot to 18. You can't see it unless you know I'm there. Took a picture of it and will post it for posterity. Better luck next gig fella....
