Man! what a couple of months. First off, how brave are the people fronting up on our behalf?! I had a brush with it myself and I am waiting to have a test. Out of trouble now but if that was mild, my heart goes out to people with worse symptoms. Before that hit I decided to put a few easy tutorials on my YouTube page but no one ever goes there ! ; ) So decided to study Hogan and Palmer (above, middle) and have been pottering about ever since. Work has all but dried up not surprisingly as people hang on to their loot but as we come out of this ( Mr & Mrs Pro's) spare a thought for poor starving artists please and perhaps commission a painting. I still think as I write this May 16 that there have been great stories of kindness, the sort that had disappeared since the War years. My Granda was a hero of that time, especially to me! He saved lives after being torpedoed in the North Alantic ( Mention in dispatches, Medal & an Oak Leaf ) The heroes of today shine just as bright and renew our faith in the human race as they put their lives in danger for others. I then read about the scum bags that prey on the vulnerable in our society and realise that we have a long way to go. I decided to paint something that represented the bravery. Something modern with a historical twist. I am in the middle of a project on churches and recently visited St Michael's in Broughton, Milton Keynes. When they were restoring the church 1980s they discovered some Religious Medieval Murals and I used one of those for inspiration. The church mural depicted heaven and hell, everyone in the scene is being devoured by a beast from hell, presumably one of the the devil's pets. The whole idea was that the preacher would warn the congregation, if they didn't tow the 'Godly Line', they would disappear into the depths of fire and hellish things. The mural is badly faded but after some fiddling with it in software, all became clear. So.... I decided to paint this for the NHS and other front-liners as my tribute. If anyone thinks they can use it for a good cause project, please let me know. I guess it could be auctioned or bought by someone with money to burn! I also wrote a song 'We Will Win ' and got my neice to sing it. My brother in Manila recorded her vocals and sent the file back to me, I mixed it down. They are locked up in Manila but being an International DJ he has an online show on Friday and Saturdays to cheer people up and it gives him a chance to dig out old stuff. We Will Win Video is played at the end of each show and has become somewhat of an anthem. If we could get someone famous to sing it here we could make some always needed funds for the NHS and Homeless etc. It was a way for me to feel like I was not totally helpless, even if I was!
Well what a few months eh? We won't forget this for a while. If you run out of things to do try my tutorials on YouTube..... Be the first Ha Ha!!
It remains for me to say " Good luck to you all, stay safe and look after each other. " Mark
