As the great 'Max' once said. "I wanna tell you a story". A short one honestly. Relating to the 2015 DP World Tour Championship but going back further in the year when I sold a Rory McIlroy Portrait for a princely sum. 'The lucky buyer' ; ) told me that he had a son & the painting was for his birthday, Lucky boy ; ) He asked if it would be possible to get the painting signed by Rory McIlroy at the DP World Tour Championship', later in the year. "Can't promise but I will ask my contact and bribe them" I replied. Anything for a sale right?... WHAT!? Gotta live... So, come the week of the Tournament, my contact had kindly arranged for the signing as long as I donated a painting to them (same old, same old), I was emailed by the buyer. Can you get Rory to write this on the canvas? My thoughts? "Do you want jam on your egg?" but I said I would ask. My contact, true to form, was very obliging and agreed to try, as long as I gave him my house as collateral (not really). I wasn't painting at the Tournament last year but had one of my paintings presented to the great 'Ivor Robson' who was retiring after over forty years of service. I guess the painting of Rory was signed around this time.
Rory McIlroy very kindly wrote the requested words and signed the painting. The words were, "See you at the Open in 2027 : )" and signed it. Many Thanks to my contact and Rory. - Kid's got nothing to live up to then!
